The US singer-songwriter Lou Reed (1942-2013).

The singer-songwriter Lou Reed (1942-2013) was a major world rock music, from The Velvet Underground & Nico (1966), with hits like Transformer (1972) and Berlin (1973), which capped a decade exceptional. He followed with a remarkable level in the 80s, to the rapid decline that fell in the 90s, but always maintained a decent level because wanted creative freedom and had a great talent. Since then the American public had almost forgotten, because their songs were reminiscent of a lost time, the wild 60's from Easy Rider, whose excesses he shared with a self-destructive desire that undermined his health and probably has come to send to the grave for liver cancer. In Europe, however, he was a myth, and each time he returned his attention from his mature admirers, the generation of 68.
